We are excited to announce the immediate availability of pyrography services from local Maine artist Evelyn Francis.  Just like our products themselves she does all burning by hand.

We have a selection of designs such as a lady slipper and helm available for all our standard products.  You can even get your own custom design on our products to really let your personality shine or to create that perfect gift.

Web Store Now Open!

We are pleased to announce that you can now buy our products online at shop.dekcraftworks.com, and to celebrate we are currently offering 10% off your entire first purchase with the code NEWSHOP10.

This means all standard series cutting boards, serving boards, and coasters are now available online. We will have all available Eco Series and Limited Run products listed by the end of the day.

We will be adding products throughout August, and may even have a couple instruments and a table or two ready by the end of the month. Who knows?

Right now we are focusing on our wood products, but do plan on adding our leather products in early September.

Please note that we maintain a very small inventory, so most standard items are made to order. However, we do currently guarantee that all orders will ship within 10 business days of order completion.

While our main site, dekcraftworks.com, has most product info. You will need to visit our storefront to view the exact Eco Series products that are currently available.

We are very excited for this next step in our continued growth, and thank all of you for your support.

Traditional Craftsmanship for the Modern World

Hi Everyone!

Effective today, March 2nd, DEK Guitars is now part of DEK Craftworks. This means we will be taking the same quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that we have always put into our instruments, and will be bringing it to exciting new product categories as we expand the scope of our business.

The reason for this shift is my desire to get back to the traditional craftsmanship that originally drew me to luthiery and woodworking in general. While I maintained hand built craftsmanship with every instrument we ever made, the production side of the business, where we were having to make 5-10 of the same body or neck, was causing us to slowly drift from these traditional methods.

This led to the decision that it was time to get back to the foundations of real craftsmanship. I also decided that this was the perfect opportunity for me to share the full scope of my passion for craftsmanship. There are few things I enjoy as much as taking the slightest gleam of an idea and making it a reality. From the initial creative spark, to the design process, all the way through to the final touches. This is why I’ve spent the majority of my life dedicated to music, and why I have chosen to focus my professional life on such creative endeavors.

I also believe that there are many people out there just like me who are fed up with the throwaway culture we are in today. People who appreciate real craftsmanship and would prefer to buy a higher quality product that will last a lifetime instead of mass produced junk that will need to be replaced countless times.

I want to recognize the awesome people I have been fortunate enough to get to know since making the move to Portland, Maine two summers ago. I want to thank all of you for the contributions you have made, large or small they are why this is possible right now.

Special thanks go to Nick Mercer for your exuberance for life and unwavering support. It has definitely made the transition from big city life easier. You’ve thanked me for believing in you, but you’ve shown just as much faith in me.

I also want to thank Evelyn Francis. Your amazing creative talent is matched only by the brightness of your soul. I know you are only scratching the surface of what you’re going to achieve in life, and I’m grateful that you are a part of this adventure.

I want to first stress that guitars will remain a core part of our business as they hold a special place in my heart, and I will always be dedicated to the luthiery craft. We simply will no longer be manufacturing production instruments. Moving forward, DEK Guitars will be a custom shop that will be limited to no more than two instruments per month. This will allow us to eliminate the manufacturing from the instrument making process.

Along with the instruments, we will be adding products that will span woodworking, leathercraft, and metalworking. We will begin by introducing wood crafted products over the next few months. Leather products will roll out this summer, and we will culminate with metal crafted products later in the fall.

For the woodworking side of thing we will be offering custom furniture along with such staples as cutting boards, serving trays, and other like items. What you will have to stay tuned for is how we go about putting our own signature touches on these products.

More information will be available on the leather and metal side of things as we get closer to those product roll outs.

We will be making new product announcements throughout the month of March with availability beginning April 3rd. There won’t be a month that goes by this year that we won’t be making product announcements.

So keep an eye on our social media channels for all the latest news! I can promise that we will be way more active on all feeds now that I will no longer be manning the helm of that department. I will stick to the shop and maybe the occasional stage🙂

I hope everyone’s ready for a great year!
